For spice brands
Spice traceability, batch by batch
Spices are a frequent target for adulteration, and buyers know it. With IndiTrace, each batch of your spice gets a QR code that opens its record: the farm or region it came from, how it was dried, cleaned and ground, and the lab report for that batch.
The questions your buyers ask
Is it really Lakadong, Tellicherry or Byadgi?
A famous origin is worth faking. The trace page names the farm and region behind that batch.
Has it been coloured or bulked out?
Only a lab test can say. The trace page shows the report that belongs to the batch in the buyer’s hand.
How fresh is it?
Harvest, drying and grinding dates are on the record, not just a best-before date.
What you record
- 1
Farm and lot
Variety, farm or collection centre, harvest date and quantity.
- 2
Drying and curing
Method, duration and the weight that came out.
- 3
Cleaning and grading
Sorting, grading or sieving, with the grade and the weight kept.
- 4
Grinding and packing
For powders, the grinding date and batch size, then packing.
- 5
Lab report
Moisture, colour or active compounds, adulterant screens: whatever your lab tests, attached to the batch.
What your buyer sees
- The farm or region and the harvest date
- Drying, cleaning, grading and grinding steps with dates and weights
- The lab report for that batch
- GI or organic certificates you attach
- A blockchain fingerprint for each confirmed step
What IndiTrace does not do. IndiTrace doesn't test spices or certify purity. Purity and quality claims come from your lab report; IndiTrace attaches it to the right batch and shows it to the buyer.
Questions
Which spices can I trace?
Any spice you can record batch by batch: turmeric, chilli, black pepper, cardamom, cumin, coriander, saffron, cinnamon and blends.
Can the trace page show our GI tag?
You can attach your GI authorised-user certificate, organic certificate or any other document to the batch, and it appears on the trace page.
Can a buyer tell from the page whether the powder was adulterated?
Only a lab test can tell. What the trace page adds is proof that the report the buyer sees belongs to that batch, and that the record has not been changed since.
What does it cost to start?
Nothing. The Free Starter Pack gives three proof credits for 30 days, enough for a first batch, with no card needed. See plans for what comes after.
