Introduction to IndiTrace
What IndiTrace records, what a buyer sees when they scan your QR code, and the order to set things up in.
IndiTrace keeps a record of each batch you sell: where it came from, what was done to it and the documents that back it up. Every batch gets a QR code. Anyone who scans it opens the batch's public trace page in their browser, with no app and no login.
What you record
- Farmers and products. The farmers who supply you, with their village and farm location, and the products you sell.
- Batches. One lot of produce: the farmer or farmers it came from, the product, the harvest date, the quantity, photos and a short capture video.
- Procurements. Produce you bought from a trader, market or other supplier rather than from your own farmers.
- Processing. Steps such as drying, grading or packing, with quantities before and after.
- Documents. Lab reports and certificates (shown on the trace page) and invoices (kept private).
- Transfers. Handing a batch to a partner, for example for sale or processing.
What the buyer sees
The trace page shows the product, its origin on a map, the recorded steps, photos, public documents and the blockchain proof. IndiTrace does not certify anything: the page shows your records and the evidence you attach.
The blockchain proof
When a record is confirmed, IndiTrace writes a fingerprint of it to the Polygon public blockchain. If a date or weight were changed later, the fingerprint would no longer match. You never handle cryptocurrency; each record uses one proof credit from your plan.
