Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers about IndiTrace: who it is for, what a trace page shows, proof credits, pricing, the blockchain fingerprint, data hosting and support.

Getting started

What is IndiTrace?

IndiTrace is food traceability software. You record where each batch came from and what happened to it, attach documents such as lab reports, and print a QR code for the pack. Anyone who scans it sees that batch's trace page in their browser, with no app or login.

Who is IndiTrace for?

Food brands that want to prove what they sell, especially small and direct-to-consumer brands, and the farmer producer organisations (FPOs), processors and exporters that supply them. It works for any food you can record batch by batch: spices, coffee, tea, makhana, ghee, honey, millets, rice, oils and more.

How do I create an account?

Go to inditrace.com/signup and sign up with your name, email and a password, or with Google. Then set up your organisation, add your farmers or suppliers, and create your first batch. The account guide walks through each step.

Can I try IndiTrace for free?

Yes. Every organisation can claim one Free Starter Pack: three proof credits for 30 days, with no card or payment details. That is enough to record a first batch and see its trace page.

Do I need technical skills?

No. If you can fill in a form and print a label, you can run IndiTrace. If you would like help, book a free 30-minute setup call from the contact page.

Trace pages and QR codes

Do my customers need an app to scan the QR code?

No. Any phone camera opens the trace page in the browser. Scans are unlimited and never use proof credits.

What does a buyer see on the trace page?

The batch's source (farmer or supplier, place and dates), each processing step that was recorded, attached documents and photos, and the blockchain fingerprint of each confirmed record. On Growth and Pro plans the page can also show a Buy Again link to your store.

How does the blockchain proof work?

Each confirmed record, such as a new batch, a processing step or a custody transfer, is fingerprinted on Polygon, a public blockchain. If a date or a weight were changed later, the fingerprint would no longer match, and anyone can check the transaction on Polygonscan. The fingerprint proves a record has not been edited since it was confirmed. It cannot prove that what was recorded was true, which is why trace pages also show who recorded each step, with photos and documents.

Do I need to buy or hold cryptocurrency?

No. IndiTrace writes the fingerprints and pays the network fees. You never handle crypto.

Credits and pricing

What is a proof credit?

One credit covers one confirmed blockchain record, such as a new batch, a processing event, a custody transfer or a published update. A few actions use two credits. A typical batch with its source and one processing step uses about two credits. Scans and reading existing history never use credits.

How much does IndiTrace cost?

After the Free Starter Pack, plans are paid monthly or yearly: Starter, Growth and Pro, each with more monthly proof credits. The India edition shows prices in rupees with GST included, and the global edition shows US dollars. See pricing for current prices.

What happens if I stop paying?

Your existing trace pages and their blockchain fingerprints stay readable. You cannot create new proof records until you are on a paid plan again.

Can I export my data?

Yes. From Reports in your dashboard you can download your batches and active farmers as CSV files.

Data and security

Where is my data hosted?

India edition data is hosted on Amazon Web Services and Supabase in India. Global edition data is hosted on Amazon Web Services and Supabase in Frankfurt, Germany. The privacy policy lists every service provider.

How is my data protected?

All traffic is served over HTTPS, access is role-based within each organisation, and every batch status change is recorded with who made it and when, then anchored on Polygon.

Can I use IndiTrace on my phone?

Yes. IndiTrace is a web app that works in mobile browsers, so there is nothing to install.
