"Harvested 6 September 2026 from the Sahni family ponds at Kusheshwar Asthan Purvi (Darbhanga, Bihar). Divers spent four days hand-gathering ripe Euryale ferox pods from the pond bed, yielding 500 kg of raw seed. The lot moved through the full traditional Mithila chain — washing and desieving, sun drying, iron-pan roasting, overnight tempering, and wooden-mallet popping at the village cluster unit — before grading into Lava (special) whole popped grade at the FPO packing line in Darbhanga. Roughly 3.5 kg of raw seed goes into every kilogram of finished makhana."
